Pickeringite var. Kasparite - Dubník, Červenica, Prešov District, Prešov Region, Slovakia
(#:MINS8799)
An attractive and very hard-to-find specimen of this uncommon sulfate. Pickeringite is typically white/colorless from various worldwide localities, but the desirable and obscure bright pink "kasparite" is only found at one locality. The pink is caused by the presence of cobalt, and is certainly eye-catching. It should be noted that kasparite is not a valid species, but a variety of pickeringite.
